International Girls in ICT Day: FIO, IBI Foundations’ partners Kidstech, trains school girls

Fatimah Ibrahim Opeyemi Foundation in Collaboration with IBI Foundation hold ‘International Girls in ICT Day’ in Kwara.

•Digprom teaches, Engr. Ibrahim Otukoko pledges Scholarships, Computer Gadgets and Partnership with the foundation.

The management, staff and students of Barakat Community Secondary School, Ilorin hosted the Fatimah Ibrahim Opeyemi Foundation for her Information and Communication Technology based event in commemorating the ‘International Girls in ICT Day’.

In the event which was to enhance the female participation in ICT and provide workable solutions to the vacuum available for young females to become ICT oriented personnels, IBI Foundation had sponsored the execution of the events in many state in the country which Kwara State is not an exception.

While given her speech, the Head of Department from Computer Science, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr. (Mrs) Jumoke F. Ajao emphasized on the importance of empowering young ones especially the females with the knowledge of Information Technology.

The training was executed by the leading Tech Firm in Kwara State, Digprom. The team introduced the female students to basics of Computer Literacy. The team lead, Mr. Ishola Kayode encouraged the participants to utilize the skills learned judiciously.

Similarly, the Director of Community Impact of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, Engr. Ibrahim Olayinka Otukoko, used the medium to inspire the fifty (50) selected female participants on not to second fiddle in the Information Technology niche. He pledged supporting the students with advance training Scholarships, donating more computers gadgets and reiterated the readiness to collaborate with the organizers to secure more opportunities for the larger society.

Meanwhile, the Founder of Fatimah Ibrahim Opeyemi Foundation, Miss. Fatimah appreciated the management of the school for their support and provision of resources to execute the project. She shown her commitment towards bringing solace to the people most especially, the indigents. She extolled the IBI Foundation for the opportunity availed and the facilitators from Digprom; Director of ICT of Imam Hamzat College of Education, Mr AbdulRazaq Ismail for his kind gesture by donating Books and some cash to our winners of the quiz competition. Guest Speaker, Dr. Jumoke F. Ajao and Special Guest of Honour, Engr. Ibrahim Otukoko for their support and encouragement.

In their remarks, Mr. Kuranga Babatunde and Mr. AbdulRahman Pakata, the Principals for both Junior and Senior section respectively, appreciated the team for bringing such life changing program and promised to work with the team in rebuilding the nation through quality education.
